Project finalist for the RegioStars Awards 2017

The project “Enhancing the Respect for Gender Equality in BG-TR cross-border area – EQUITY”, funded by the Bulgaria – Turkey IPA Cross-border programme 2007-2013, has been selected as a finalist for the RegioStars Awards 2017 in the category: “Women Empowerment and Active Participation”.

The award ceremony will take place in Brussels on 10 October during the 2017 European Week of Regions and Cities.

The RegioStars Awards identify good practices in regional development and highlight original and innovative projects that are attractive and inspiring to other regions.

The Award Categories for 2017 are:

  1. Smart Specialisation for SME innovation

  2. Energy Union: Climate action

  3. Women Empowerment and Active Participation

  4. Education and training

  5. CityStars: Cities in Digital Transition

“Enhancing the Respect for Gender Equality in BG-TR cross-border area – EQUITY” Project [2]

The overall objective of the project was to achieve a better understanding, respect and application of the Gender equality principle in the two neighbouring countries, more specifically in the regions of Burgas and Kirklareli, as well as enhancing the role of the females in the labour market and entrepreneurship.
