Joint Monitoring Committee meeting of the Interreg-IPA CBC Bulgaria – Turkey Programme 2014 – 2020 took place in Burgas, Republic of Bulgaria

The Third Joint Monitoring Committee meeting under the Interreg-IPA CBC Bulgaria – Turkey Programme 2014 – 2020 for approval of the projects proposed for financing within the available budget under the First Call for project proposals took place on 8th of November 2016 in Burgas, Bulgaria.

The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Denitsa Nikolova, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works of Republic of Bulgaria and co–chaired by Mrs. Beyza Turan, Director of “Financial cooperation” Directorate in the Ministry for EU Affairs of Republic of Turkey.

Representative of the “Regional and urban policy” Directorate General at the European Commission in the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) meeting was Mrs. Ann–Jasmin Krabatsch, Programme Manager - EU policies.

116 project proposals out of 195 in total within the First Call received a positive assessment at the administrative compliance and eligibility stage. 39 project proposals passed the technical and quality evaluation under the First Call for Project Proposals and were provisionally approved for fınancıng by the Joint Monitoring Committee. 16 of them are wıthin Priority Axis 1 “Environment” and 23 - wıthin Priority Axis 2 “Sustainable Tourism”. Prior the contracting representatives of the Managing Authority, National Authority and Joint Secretariat will perform:

1. Double financing check; indicative timing: November 2016;

2. Check for compliance with the state aid rules (for Bulgarian partners only); indicative timing: November 2016;

3. Site visits (for investment proposals only); indicative timing: November-December 2016;

4. Negotiations with beneficiaries; indicative timing: December 2016.
